what's new

M&T Publishing
I got my start as assistant art director for Dr. Dobb's Journal of Software Tools in 1986. That’s where I learned the basics of desktop publishing, bringing rapid innovations to the company’s production department. Over five years, I was promoted to a succession of assignments, graduating to Group Art Director in 1991. (60 issues)

McGraw-Hill
Recruited as art director for UnixWorld magazine, I brought my expertise to bear by doubling the amount of artwork per month while eventually cutting the expenditures by half (learning to buy quality art and photography “by the yard.”) As the magazine repositioned itself as Open Computing, with a more business-oriented, less technical focus, the art direction evolved as well. (50 issues)

The Publishing Business Group
Working with PC World co-founder Cheryl Woodard and her team of consultants, we drew up plans for a proposed California magazine, as well as aiding a variety of smaller publishers to launch, reposition, or completely rethink their magazine ventures.
